The “Pitfalls” series of seminars focuses on core issues familiar to all translators of German-to-English financial and corporate texts. “Pitfalls IV: The Compendium” brings together the highlights from the successful Pitfalls 1, 2 and 3 seminars held in Frankfurt am Main and Vienna in 2017 and 2018, plus additional candidates and updates catering to new developments. Core terms and phrases are examined and their different meanings discussed using real-life examples. Group exercises allow participants to test what they have learned, while the seminar materials offer a handy terminology resource and further reading. Active participation is sought and attendees are encouraged to send in terms for discussion up to two weeks in advance.
At the end of this seminar, participants will have
• Gained an in-depth understanding of problem terms in German-to-English financial and corporate translation
• Be aware of a wide range of “proper” English solutions
• Tested their knowledge and practiced what they have learned
• Received reference resources and a reading list
Target group
The seminar is aimed at native and non-native translators of English financial and management texts. It will be delivered in English.
