The seminar will kick off with a definition of key concepts and an introduction to the general theory and history of corporate governance. Next it will look at the division of powers and responsibilities between the Managing Board, Supervisory Board and General Meeting in large German corporations. An overview of the complex legal framework for corporate governance will also be given. Current and future trends in the area will be discussed and topical examples given. In addition, core text types with a bearing on corporate governance will be examined and typical translation problems and issues addressed. Finally, the seminar will evaluate key German, English and bilingual resources in the field, including the German Corporate Governance Code. Participants are encouraged to submit questions and terminology in advance for discussion.
